Hyperopia--or farsightedness, as it can also be called--is when close vision is impaired, with some impairment of distance vision as well. In this case, the eye is too short in relation to the curvature of the cornea, so the light rays (images) are not yet in focus when they reach the retina. They focus beyond it.

Hyperopia is corrected with eyeglasses with plus (+) graduation. LASIK surgery is also an option to correct hyperopia without the need for glasses.
