Jaime Santamaria II, M.D., F.A.C.S., F.I.C.S.
Dr. Santamaria
is an avid yachtsman. He holds a Coast Guard Merchant Marine Captain's license
since 1990. Dr. Santamaria also is an active musician who has served as an
organist for several churches. He has composed pieces for choirs and several
hymns. He is the Director of Concerts by the Bay, Inc., which sponsors the
regular Sunday afternoon series by the Garden State Symphonic Band at Bayview
Park in Perth Amboy.

- Dr. Jaime and Gloria Santamaria:
Dr.
Santamaria, was born in Burgos, Spain and earned his Doctorate of Medicine
degree at the University of Madrid, Summa Cum Laude—extraordinary prize
and valedictorian. He was the Medical Director of Abbott Laboratories and
retired as Medical Director of the Sterling Drug Company. He was a numbered
member and one of the founders of the North American Academy of the Spanish
Language, and was a corresponding member of the Royal Academy in Spain.
He is the author of numerous scientific publications and the author of a
medical textbook. In 1984, he was knighted in Spain by King Juan Carlos
with the Royal Order of Isabel the Catholic. He had been elected to the
Academy of Fernan Gonzalez in Burgos and had been declared not only Citizen
of the Year in Burgos, but proclaimed as Citizen-Extraordinaire of Burgos,
Spain in 1984. He was also a member of the Order of Imperial Byzantine of
Constantine the Great. He had been interviewed numerous times on television
in Europe and the United Sates. He was also an ordained Baptist minister.
Mrs.
Gloria Santamaria is the author of six books, two of which are celebrated
novels. Her published books are: God Always God, Gospel in Poetry, Mother
a Gift of God, La Madre, The Calling, and El Pantano. She has written
numerous magazine articles and is a recipient of several honors, including
the honor prize of ECHA and the Grand Order Mariana. She also received the
City Proclamation of Honor by the Mayor of Miami, Florida.

will experience globe collapsibility during cataract surgery using contemporary
extracapsular instrumental techniques.
